It’s officially summer, and that means lots of sun for those of us here in Philly (well, when we aren’t being soaked by rainstorms every day!). We’ve gathered a few tips on preventing skin cancer and sun safety habits for you to start practicing today!
- Use a sunscreen with an SPF of 15 or higher every day
- Apply 1 ounce (or 2 tablespoons) of sunscreen to your entire body 30 minutes before going outside. Reapply every two hours or after swimming or excessive sweating
- Examine your skin from head to toe once every month
- Avoid tanning and UV tanning booths
- Seek the shade if you can, especially between 10am and 4pm
- Cover up with clothing, including a broad-brimmed hat and UV-blocking sunglasses
