6 Steps to the Perfect Pedicure

It’s that time of year where boots are starting to be tucked away into closets and beautiful sandals are coming out! Before you start wearing your beautiful new sandals, here are six tips for getting a fresh pedicure for any season. Follow these intensive steps, and you’ll have flaunt-worthy toes in no time!

1. Start out by soaking feet in warm water to help with circulation and relaxation. Add a few drops of scented oil like lavender to the water to help deodorize the feet.

2. Take one foot out of the bath and pat dry, then file the nails to achieve the desired round or square shape. If you are using a nail clipper, be careful as you cut each nail and only do so if the nails are too long to be filed down with an emery board. If the nails are cut too short, it can cause an infection.

3. Apply a few drops of cuticle remover to each toenail and gently push back the dead skin. Wash and clean each toe, then use cuticle nippers to remove any excess dead skin. Be careful of how much dead skin you trim!

4. Remove any imperfections on the nail plate by buffing the surface with a 180 grit buffer.

5. Once the nails are finishing, apply a warm scrub starting just below the knee and down to the tips of the toes to exfoliate dead skin.

6. Try not to use harsh metal tools on dry or callused areas of the feet. Instead, use a pumice stone before rinshing the legs and feet with warm water. Pay attention to how rough you may scrub because everyone’s feet may have different levels of sensitivity!
